Hokkaido powder with none of the logistics: Sapporo Teine rises barely half an hour from downtown Sapporo, and this all-inclusive day tour threads together the coach out, the lift pass, a full ski or snowboard set and insurance, leaving you nothing to do but ride. The Rainbow Road ropeway climbs 1.4 kilometres over snowfields with Ishikari Bay and the Sea of Japan filling the view, feeding the resort's longest run — some six kilometres of descent toward the water. Gentle slopes suit first-timers and families, while the upper mountain still carries the terrain that hosted the 1972 Winter Olympics.
